Bob's your uncle

This British expression meaning "and there you have it" is widely believed to reference Prime Minister Robert "Bob" Cecil, who in 1887 appointed his nephew Arthur Balfour as Chief Secretary for Ireland — a blatant act of nepotism. If Bob was your uncle, getting what you wanted was guaranteed. The phrase entered popular slang shortly after.
